Over the course of our 3 year apprenticeship here at morrisons, we do different placements around the business where we manage our own projects or can be involved in more supportive roles within a team. Some areas of the business have more opportunities and responsibility for an apprentice than others so it is about finding somewhere with the right balance for yourself.
I've gained a large amount of independence and confidence since joining morrisons through daily interactions and also the transition into a world of professional adults. We have been given external opportunities such as working with the princes trust to also gain different skills
I thoroughly enjoy the scheme I am working on, I really enjoy that we are able to move placements and gain knowledge from different areas of the business and I respect that we are treated as any other employee.
I am always thanked for work that I produce and when leaving my last placement the director gifted me with a thank you voucher for Morrisons for my hard work
we are rotated around the business every 6/12 months and go to university for 5 days every 6 weeks. The scheme is very structured and the leaders seem to know what we are doing at every point
We see our scheme leaders for one to ones every 6 months which is beneficial as we can express our concerns
We are given a mentor however I don't receive much engagement from them, on the other hand our early careers are very approachable and supportive
Overall the salary is sometimes strecthed due to moving away from home and having to pay all rent and bills however this does increase annually.
We have been given a number of opportunities to volunteer at schools
Yes
It's a great opportunity to kick start your career
Make sure that you 100% want to start work at a young age. Be confident in the assessment day however don't over power anyone, ensure to ask for other peoples opinions. Don't doubt yourself when you start, just be yourself.
