Junior lab scientist. Working in the lab gathering data and analysing the results in a spreadsheet. Reasearching different things to help with the work being done in the lab. Interacting with the people you are working with and other members of the team, occasionally interacting with other companies.
Currently working towards a level 3 Applied Science BTEC. I feel more confident in myself and feel better at communicating with people. We recieve a lot of internal courses as part of induction and training in addition to external courses supporting our time at NPL.
I am really enjoying the work I am currently doing. Everyone within the team is really nice and would not mind helping out when needed. It is a really nice environment to work in and I would consider it to be a better than my expectations as I wasn't entirely sure of what to expect.
I work as part of a team , working on different projects and tasks; therefore I feel valued within the team.
It's well structured having different induction and training throughout the course. Every Friday we recieve academic input. Our tutors are incredibly friendly and supervisors check up on us every so often making sure everything is ok.
Our tutor comes in every Friday and is really nice. It makes the training enjoyable and if there id anything which we need extra help on we need just ask.
Everyone is really nice and friendly, you just have to ask if you need anything or have any problems.
My salary meets my costs, with most going into savings and some being used for social outings
We get to help with outreach for future apprentice by visiting different colleges and careers fairs informing the public of the type of work done in a measurement institiute and promoting the apprenticeship.
Yes
Because so far it has been a really enjoyable experience. There is also a lot more hands on experience then you get in the classroom.
Be yourself and truthful. And if you're looking for a more hands on experiance in science then it is definetly something to consider.
