Chef - cooking, cleaning and taking in delivery’s. Each day was so varied and interesting, this made the job more enjoyable that every day was different and the days went fast, learning new skills and cooking techniques every day and understand the importance of cleaning and good hygiene skills in the kitchen.
Yes I have learn lots of skills including new cooking techniques and in particular steak cooking I have learnt as I didn’t know how to cook a steak or tell the difference between a rump and a sirloin for example or the difference between rare and medium, but now I do and so much more valuable new skills within the kitchen.
I enjoyed the programe and the support from my trainer and the encouragement given. The qaulification is good to have and recognised and I enjoyed learning new skills and hope to develop these skills further ! I enjoyed the programme from start to finish and would reccomend it to other people.
It was clearly structured well and a clear target and timescale was in place. Sometime it seemed a little un organised with meeting my trainer would be planned very last minute which would be hard to do when working or if that’s meant to be my day off but this was not an issue that would deter me from doing another nvq.
My employer was supportive and helped me with meeting my trainers goals. For example I would communicate with my trainer and manager to ensure I was in work for when a delivery arrives so I can be marked off for doing that as observation. And my work were happy to work with me to help complete my nvq.
Lots of support was availabile and given to me from my trainer aswell as online on fuse. I would often text or ring or email my trainer for advice or help and he would get back to me quickly and with the information I needed. This was helpful and needed to complete my qualification.
It’s certainly helped me with the skills and I have learn things from my qualification that I’ve used in the kitchen. It’s been so valuable and it’s helped me to perform better in the kitchen and develop in the kitchen and move up in the business !
Not really people sometimes organise going out for meals outside of work and we went for a Christmas meal however with it being in the catering industry it’s never shut it’s open every day of the year, so it’s hard to organise anything as a whole team as cover would always be needed.
Yes
It’s a company that’s growing and clearly helps it’s staff to gain knowledge and are very supportive of all everyone. They help you progress and encourage further studies and support you with them. They treat you well but you work hard but I would overall recommend it.
