  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role allows me to get an insight into the overall sales process and the opportunity to gain invaluable hands-on experience understanding commercial and tender process. My main responsibilities involve me monitoring case studies, and writing tenders including RFP, ITT and PQQ's. My role allows me to get a full understanding of the overall sales process.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In my role at Softcat i have developed my communication, organisation and time management skills, as i am constantly communicating with other internal people within the business. Furthermore i also have to meet strict deadline's in order to submit a tender on time to help softcat win new business opportunities.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my program so far at Softcat. We are constantly offered new training and supported by all members of staff within the business. As an apprentice i am always offered constant training which allows me to develop and learn new skills and become better at my job.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our programme is well organised and structured, we have meetings with our apprenticeship provider every month, in which we discuss what we have accomplished and learnt in that month and any new projects we have taken on. Furthermore all the apprentices get together every three months for additional training and a re cap of the past three months.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a lot of support from our employer, everyone within Softcat is always happy to help should you be struggling with something. Furthermore all the additional training we get at Softcat allows us as the apprentices to develop and further of skills and feel more confident within our roles.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • All apprentices receive large amounts of support from our provider, we submit all work to them and within 2 days they have responded with the work marked, and informing us of any changes we can make to the work we have done. Furthermore we meet our apprentice provider monthly in which we are offered training and discuss the month ahead.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Massively , the provider gives us advice and arranges tasks around our role which allows us to develop skills. additionally the supplier is always easily accessible via email, so whenever we need help or advice they are able to offer us support about our role. The qualification allows us to reflect on what we have done in the month which allows us to see any mistakes we have made and not make those mistakes again.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, Softcat host lots of events and parties which allow everyone to network and meet new people within the business. Softcat also host sports event, before and after work such as football and yoga which is good for socializing and relaxing after work. This also allows us to meet new people within the business.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Softcat are a really great company, the people within Softcat are what makes Softcat so special as they are friendly and always offer support when needed. Additionally Softcat are always happy to give their employees training and career support when needed, this allows employees to feel confident and motivated in the work place.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
  • Remain calm and let your personality show, the interview process was nice and relaxed which eased any nerves straight away. Make sure that you are confident in what you are saying and passionate, and if you as an individual are passionate about something then the person interview will be able to feel that passion and commitment which will allow you to stand out.
