My role involves using my companies CRM system to call in attempts to gain new business for myself and Softcat. I also maintain the relationships I have with existing customers through campaigns and incentives etc - assisting them with more of the IT solutions they require to improve their infrastructure daily
One of the skills I have developed massively throughout my time working has been my determination. This is as I have pushed myself massively to call for new business that has given me a sense of wanting to achieve highly. I have gained more of a team-working attitude towards my role through my need for help to begin with that has now replicated onto my colleagues who also need assistance from myself. This could be recognized as a new found attitude to help my colleagues and wanting all around me in my team to succeed.
I wake up everyday excited and ready for work. This is because of the fun of the job itself as it is risky and thrilling everyday as you never know what may be on/required of you on the day. Also, I am happy to see my peers who I have fit in very well with and have made some very good friends from. Everything about Softcat and it's culture is fantastic and I cannot fault a single experience I have had throughout my apprenticeship so far and I definitely see this being a long term career.
Very well organised. My calendar is always full with training exercises and none of them overlap or interject with each other. This allows me to get on with my day to day tasks whilst knowing the exact time and location of my sessions which is very organised and helpful due to the busy nature of the job.
The right amount. My employer will help me when I am struggling, however they will not spoon feed me the answer. By getting me to think for myself this allows me to learn the role better by forcing me into the Zone of Proximal development that I need so in future cases of my struggle I will know how to resolve this and carry on with minimal disturbance and pestering
A lot of support in terms of my qualification coursework which has given me assistance I need to complete the requirements with ease. As it was so well explained - I now require little assistance from my provider, however, I still know that if I was ever stuck or unsure about anything they would be happy to clarify it for me.
The qualification allowed me initially to settle into my role with a sufficient knowledge of the technical side in order to complete my job. This has been massively beneficial as it has given my the foundation to improve my knowledge thus far - making me a more knowledgeable and therefore successful account manager.
We have many team nights out throughout the year that allow us to blow off steam and get to know each other more. These a great fun and allows the team to connect on a more personal level. We also have whole office nights out around Christmas time and a May Ball that everyone is able to attend which connects the whole office on a better scale also.
Yes
Because it is such a fun work environment and everybody is friendly with one another. The pay is very good and allows people to work hard and potentially earn a lot more than what their base salary is. A lot of support is offered from all of the management so you never feel too out of depth but you are still challenged which keeps the job interesting.
Do it! It will be one of the best working experinces you will have and you have the potential to earn a lot of money. There is little to no negatives of working here for me so I suggest others should apply straight away and get working here because you will 100% enjoy it!
