My role involves using innovative and new technologies to improve and augment existing workloads that other teams are facing. Including intelligent automation and some manual processes, providing increased productivity and profitability. The projects are for internal teams to use to help with existing client work and to adapt to changes within the industry.
I have learnt such a wide variety of skills during my short time as a digital apprentice for EY. This includes being trained on Alteryx, which is a data manipulation tool, and Tableau & Power BI, which are data visualisation tool. Having no previous experience in these tools, I am now competent using these in my day to day role.
I have found that all the staff are kind, welcoming and always willing to help which has made my first few months an absolute pleasure. I enjoy the work I do on various projects as I get to work closely with different members of my team on a daily basis.
Overall, our programme is well structured as we know and understand our roles and know what we are required to do to complete our apprenticeship. Within the company we also presented with a myriad of opportunities to stretch and challenge myself in everyday situations, as well as extra curricular activities.
At my company, when you first join, you are assigned a buddy who is there to help you with settling in during the first few months. You are also assigned a councillor who will work with you towards improving your skills and offer support with any concerns that may arise.
There are many staff that work with you towards earning your degree, with weekly lessons and exams/assignments at the end of each term. We are provided with a skills coach who we meet with regularly to discuss our progress and any issues that arise. The tutors are also available to offer specific support though can take some time to reply.
I feel like my qualification and degree will be useful within my role at EY. Whilst the modules completed so far are not necessarily related to my role but have still provided me with the skills such as independent research and problem solving which will enable me to complete my degree in the future.
There are many extra curricular activities that EY provide to staff members such as sports clubs, networking events and team outings. These provide an opportunity to meet new people and develop a professional network outside of the team, which will be beneficial to the development of my career and general well being.
Yes
EY is offering a great opportunity for anyone to make a step into the world of work. The company has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to come into work while providing professional work and training. I believe this is reflected in the 'Top Companies to Work for' list where EY have placed third.
My advice would be that everyone should apply, the talent team here can recognise anyone with a drive and passion and believe that they are some of the most important things when hiring new people. You do not have to be perfect as EY will provide learning and development opportunities to enable you to be the best you can.
