My role currently involves training at a training centre full time where I learn many new skills in engineering which will make me competent when I return to the BAE site and start my full time job. We study b-tech courses on tursday and NVQ on other days which include practical training.
I have learnt many new skill while studying at my training centre which includes electrical end bench fitting activities. I have developed new skills in bench fitting which I had some knowledge so this makes my knowledge it the topic expanded. I enjoy learning new techniques in soldering electrical components and learning equations to understand the components.
I enjoy the programme due the the friendliness of the trainers and the large amount of support and help I receive when not understanding a certain topic. There is sense of community which makes learning easier and more fun. The subjects are made enjoyable by including practicals making everyone involved.
Our programme is well organised. We are each given folders where all our work is stored and easy to access. We use a web site called noodle where all the information taught from lessons can be found and used for aid in assessments or for catching up on missed work.
Our employer visits is every six weeks to make sure everyone is up to date and coping with the work we’ve been given. They record the work we have completed and give us targets for the next meeting that we have to complete. Our employers are very supportive on personal safety as well as our work.
Our training provider are very supportive when working towards our qualifications. They give us all the resources to complete tasks. We also get targets from our trainer for us to achieve for easy assignment. The trainers also get the students to practical teamwork activities to help understand circuits and components.
I feel that the qualification through the training provider give us essential knowledge and understanding in the role we will receive when returning back to the work place. The training provider provides a large range of skills which will make us students flexible in many jobs in the aerospace sector.
BAE have a few extra-curricular activities and sports teams such as table tennis, gym and tennis club. This keeps there employees health and happy for more efficient work. It also creates greater bonds between employees which help them to work together and share resources and knowledge when completing a task.
