  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am involved in the survival and transverse team where I am responsible for many different roles. Currently i am updating the ESQL which is a way of tracking systems with their shock values and many other parameters. This involves attending meetings and creating one to ones with other people in the role.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned to use many different new softwares such as DOORS and Windchill, however this expereince has also enhanced my poele skills and my ability to create situations of discussion or debate between peers that i didnt have before which is a huge thing for the type of role i am in

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoy the programme very much as it totally different from any type of job or lifestyle i have had before. I also enjoy attending college on a regular basis as it relieves the stress of the office and also gives me a chmace to interact with different people daily.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured as everything is very clearly explained and also you are given plenty of time to complete a task but also are pushed to meet a deadline. I also enjoy the different placements as it allows me to experience new roles and responsibilities and allows me to choose my own path.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve a lot of support from my employer as i am given a training officer who explains all the roles i will be attending and helps me with external problems and i am also given a mentor who is someone who has came from the same background from me and this is good as they can see it from my perspective

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They allow me time to complete the SVQ side of my qualification and will also give me support on the SVQ if needed. They are very helpful and will stop most tasks to make sure that you are fully understanding and confident in the task that you are tryng to complete

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This hlps me perfrom better as i learn experiences that i can carry into the workplace also most of the trsining providers are past time served so they also an use terms that i hear on a day to day basis which hels me undertand them better when used in a different context

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many differnt activities to get involved with such as the apprenticeship council which are setting up team buliding exercises for all apprentices and you can also get involved in STEM which is going out to schools and supporting pupils into a role and giving them knowledge of your experiences to help them decide what they want to do

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • it is a compant that support you from the word go and will continue to push you to achieve goals while also not presuring you if you are not ready. They also allow you to shape your own future by selecting roles and responsibilities catered to your skills that you will develop


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • To be confident in what you are doing and to try your best to stand out from the crowd. You have to give them a good reason to notice you and also be well prepared for the interview so you seem confident and prepared to work. You should also stay calm if you get uptight as that can be your downfall.
