  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My Current job Role is in a small team which looks after a section of a submarine, the main jobs include looking at parts and finding where they are supposed to be and if they can fit it also involves working with the US and UK to negotiate drawings and times.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I feel as though most of the skills I had possessed have been developed in this apprenticeship from teamwork to self confidence and timekeeping however I have learned some new skills as well such as stakeholder management and leadership however helps also to develop many other interpersonal skills essential for the job

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • At some points the programme gets quite demanding and stressful but members of the team are always happy to help and you are not penalised for doing so. However most of the time the job is fun and interesting which in my eyes equals enjoyable, fun, excitable and most of all worthwhile

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The Programme structure was confusing at first however over time I got used to it as we move placements every 4 months and in some ways it seems weird just feeling comfortable in a placement then going to the next one, but it worked out better and the documents are clearly shown to you

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A high amount of support is offered by the company and its employee incentive scheme who are available 24/7, and can offer assistance with a range of issues whilst being completely confidential and therefore has an element of trust about it without it being to hard to access just put on your headset and ring the number

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The course tutors are good at helping you with were you are struggling at thirst I thought there may be limited support due to the University being so far away but the tutors are available to email all week. help with small or big tasks no matter which one it is no task is to simple for them to explain it to you. Plus they are experts in their field

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • its good that you get to see a real life version of what your learning in college and therefore this allows you to understand your role better. Everything you learn begins to look relevant at some point in your working life you just have to wait for it to pop up

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • You have plenty of opportunity to get involved with stretch assignments which further develop your skills in STEM subjects and other interpersonal skills essential to the job you do. It also gives you the opportunity to help the future generations get involved and achieve the skills relevant to jobs in the future.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It has plenty of benefits from good pay to a brilliant opportunity of getting a level 6 degree which is funded for you and with plenty of support all through your apprenticeship without having to live with all that pressure which would normally come with the responsibility of a job like this


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Just stay positive you will never know what you can do unless you give it a try and if you don't settle into it straight away give it a chance as im sure you will learn to love it as so many people I have met have done to
