I help project sponsors research different scenarios of the project in case the primary option does not work. I also took responsibility in creating the Project Requirements for all the available project options the team can pick from, putting the options against them and giving the project manager my final conclusion.
Although I have used Microsoft excel in the past, I have not used it as much as how I have over the past 5-6 months. I have learnt many techniques with in Microsoft excel in terms of learning short cuts or creating files which handles finance and other colleges work progress.
I am in my second year of the programme and I have so far enjoyed it a lot more than my first year. This is because I have given a lot of work to keep my mind occupied as well as feeling a lot more comfortable with in the placement I am then than the previous two placements.
The structure of my programme is very well organised, my line manager does all she can do to not only help me but to help the rest of the apprentices. She gives us plenty of information in terms of what can we expect for the future as well as opportunities to train and be one step ahead of others.
TFL offers support in all aspects, they allow me to have plenty of freedom in whatever I choose to do and are always there to remind me that there is always help no matter the problem. It is part of the TFL behaviours to help one another no matter the job role we are in.
As much support as possible as our line manager knows what me and the other apprentices are going through due to past experience. We are offered free time for us to work on our qualifications and have consistently been told to make the qualification our main priority no matter what work you have been giving by your placement manager.
By giving work loads from my qualification and work loads from my manager, I have learnt to manage my time a lot better than before and also learnt to priorities different activities and job tasks. As result I have become more productive and efficient in my role and with my qualification.
There are many activities to get involved in, this includes; gym and yoga classes. Networking events such as coffee roulette so you can meet randomly build relationship with other workers including TFL directors! There are football events throughout the year and also activities for staffs to go around London to promote TFL apprenticeships.
Yes
TFL is an enjoyable place to work in, it is a very calm environment to be involved in and the staffs are always very welcoming and helpful to what you need help with. TFL is a great place to work in for the future as they bring a lot of opportunities for self development.
Research TFL's history and learn the TFL behaviours and competencies try to use them as much as possible in your answers during the interview. Normally when applying for an graduate scheme or apprenticeship there is a group assessment but the idea is to not to stand out by talking a lot but to show you understand the Behaviours and Competencies.
