So I open accounts and are constantly talking with account managers in the United Kingdom and France. Recently I have been given a lot more responsibility for tasks such as raising credits and invoices. I run a daily hold list at the end of the day around 4:30pm. Aged debt is also a responsibility I have taken up along side with my coursework.
I've always considered myself to be an extrovert however I have learnt how to speak in a corporate manner as well as simple yet important skills such as chasing somebody for a task with a calm attitude. I have started learning from the course providers with the coursework working towards an advanced Level 3 course. As I am straight from school, I didn't quite know what to expect but I have learnt to find my own way with how I work. I have been able to learn extremely important time management skills alongside with this.
I like the independence you are able to get. You are able to work how you work. My team and line manager are extremely useful and helpful. They are more than welcoming and approachable and they all get along with each other which really helps the team work well. TIGI and Unilever have a great company culture which I have a strong following with. Both companies care for your well being.
Unilever have been very supportive from the start with the application process. They stick with you throughout the whole period. When you start they are, again, very supportive and make sure you are enjoying the induction period. The training is organised and useful. The company knows the importance of the course and understands that studying is a important which they allow you to do with no pressure of sacrificing your time. You do notice that there is a hierarchy but you are treated as anybody else.
The company supports everybody and you get that feel even when you are partaking in the application process at the start. My manager and the aligning managers are all very nice, talkative and approachable. I haven't really had any encounters with HR yet.
The course provider have appeared to be slightly slow with the application process however they seem very friendly and you can ask them a lot of questions. You do see yourself chasing them for some extra content to support your work. I enjoy the aspect of learning so I am please that I can learn with them.
I haven't yet been able to apply learnt information into my work routine yet but this could be due to the fact that the course has only started 3 months prior this review. The course itself is very attractable as you can branch out into other sectors in the company.
I am currently starting my Digital Marketing Ambassador scheme which allows me to get in contact with a lot of other apprentices within Unilever. I would consider this as an extra-curricular activity. We do have breakfast mornings and Barbecues every once in a while. I am currently planning some events with my well-being ambassadors for the near future.
Yes
Unilever is a very prestigious company to work for. The way they operate and care for their workers is a strong attraction. It's typically very hard to get into a company such as Unilever and being able to do an apprenticeship with them with amazing people is an insane opportunity. Even if I do not get offered a permanent role at the end, I will feel content as I know I can say I have worked with a company as big as Unilever and the 18months here will be worth every minute.
Think hard for what you would like to put down for the processes before the assessment day. Go to the introduction presentations as they offer more tips as well as a line of sight to what you will be doing. At the assessment day, make friends with everybody. It's nice to be able to relax with everyone and don't go into the assessment day with a competitive mindset. You spend the whole day with the people at the assessment day and it is nice to keep those contacts if you are offered a place.
