Day to day my role varies. I could be on a construction site walking round with a range of stakeholders to sitting in meeting or chairing meetings. I complete a lot of reports dealing with progress on site. I also get a lot of client facing opportunities working together day to day.
Since joining Mace Group the skills I have learnt has grown a lot. Mace's in house training allows anyone to join the industry with no knowledge and be able understand the basics very quickly. My line manager always pushes me to ensure I am constantly learning something new. This is great because it means I am never always doing the same tasks.
The programme is amazing, I believe there is the right level of in house training along with the external training. It is the perfect ratio to allow you to delve into your work and get more responsibility while also learning a great deal. There are lots of opportunities to socialise with teams, sectors and the whole business, everyone is extremely welcoming
The structure on our internal training is perfect. When joining in the first year you learn the basics of construction and knowledge you need in your job role. As the years go on the programme goes into more detail to match your level of responsibility at work. When joining you get a buddy to support you when joining allowing the daunting jump so much easier.
The support given at Mace is perfect for an apprentice. You are given a buddy before you join to help moving into the new job. Once joining the buddy contacts you and supports you every week for at least 6 months. You also have regular meeting with your line managers to ensure you are getting the exposure you want.
The support given to me was good I have gained me qualification first time due to the support give in the 1-2 month meet ups to ensure I am on the right path. I get advise on situations and they are very approachable in need be. Provider and Mace always are in contact to ensure I am on track
My qualification is 'Association for Project Management (APM) Project Management Qualification PMQ'. This qualification is great for my job role because it gives me the knowledge of project management. A lot of people are trying to get the qualification so getting it as part of my apprenticeship is great for my development
Every quarter all of Mace head office get together for drinks to be able to socialise with new faces. There is an in house football tournament which gets very competitive. Though out the year there are a lot of professional networking events in which we are encouraged to go to.
