  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • on a day to day basis I usally work on cost plans, monthly cost reports, benchmarking projects against each other and updating benchmarking documents. updating my portfolio and diary on a daily basis to ensure I am up to date with my competencies and to keep a track of what I do day to day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • over my last few years at mace I have learned a variety of skills that I can carry forward with me into my future career such as, a variety of construction terminology that I did not know previously as well as how to form contracts and various other relevant skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • overall my experience on my 5 year programme is very much enjoyable. the support from my company is amazing which makes it even easier to talk to my hr when I do have a problem regarding work or university. I can honestly say that the support system is beyond amazing.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that overall the organization of the programme that I am on is very well organized. especially when it comes to in house training and any correspondence between our work and our university. they are also very aware as to when all of our exams are and when any coursework is due.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I would say that overall I receive an enormous amount of support from my employer especially when it comes to times around our exams or when we have any large amounts of coursework due in. this makes it easier to go to work as they understand the pressure that we are under.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I would say that overall we receive less support from our training provider as they tend to forget that we are part time students and aren't always able to get the time off of work to attend extra revisions session, however they do still try their best to make sure we do get revision sessions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I would say that overall it does help me perform better in my role at work as it gives me the confidence as I feel like this way I have been taught it from a professional body rather than picking information up as I go. it also shows my employer that I am learning from university.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are extra curricular activities however they do seem to be more orientated to males than females as they are football teams. however this doesn't bother me too much as I wouldn't be able to attend them as I live qute far away from my place of work.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Mace to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I believe that the work environment here is unlike any other. the company is always worried about the wellbeing of its employees and like to ensure that they are getting the most out of work but are also enjoying it, as well as ensuring a balance work to home life.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • I would say that when applying to mace it is always important to be yourself and to do your research before as this always helps with any interview. also know a bit about maces core values and show how you can aid towards them and potentially help mace hit their targets.
