Working with the cost consultancy arm of mace assisting with 2/3 projects on invoicing, valuations, change management, cost reporting and general contract management
I have developed my networking skills and understand good client care. I have also learn a lot about the job role and what is involved. I have also learnt about relationships with contractors and how to have a relationship that is both productive and efficient.
I have enjoyed some placements more than others. I understand the logic behind seeing all sectors of the business however I feel this can be a hindrance to our development as you have to almost start from scratch every time.
mostly extremely well organized but there have been time communication could have been better in terms of rotations/appraisals/pay reviews.
I feel very well supported in all aspects of working life by my line manager for day to day help and advise; personal development with my mentor; and even help with university from professionals from different sectors within the business
There have been a number of issues with the university such as lack of qualified lecturers; poor quality of teaching including poor, confusing assignment briefs but to be fair to Mace they have acted firmly upon our feedback 100% of the time.
The things we have learnt have helped us to understand things in more details but it took a while for the course content to be relevant to our industry. It more a case of we gain most of the knowledge in work, and then some of this is reinforced in uni.
there are plenty of things to get involved in outside of more with mace and I find it extremely useful in terms of networking and getting to know my colleges but it also promotes a healthy work/life balance.
Yes
Mace has provided me with the opportunity to become a qualified professional without immediately putting too much pressure on me. we have been allowed to learn and grow at our own pace and they always put our best interests first.
Have a friendly approachable personality and be able to talk confidently. no base knowledge is needed but all of the information and training will be given to you if you have a fervent attitude
