I work for BAE Systems and am an apprentice in a department called electronic warfare and within this department I support the IGS product. to support the product and the customer I write documents, install software, review he product and also try to make the processes as good and efficient as possible,
From my entire apprenticeship I have learned many skills from the training centre and also from my experience on site from my placements. these skills include: filing, welding, riveting, sawing and electrical and electronic skills. as well as practical skills I have also had my personal skills developed and become more confident.
I enjoy my programme fully and enjoy every single day and it has been one of my best decisions to join BAE systems. it has given me many skills and developed me as a person. it has also given me plenty of personal and career opportunities as well as being able to meet great people.
the programme is very well structured. from day 1 it is outlined to us and thoroughly explained. as well as this there are resources we can access that will explain this for us as well as our assessors or any of the early careers staff who are always on hand if we have any issues or questions.
I receive plenty of support from my employer. any of the early career staff, or employees in general, are always on hand to help us or if we have any issues or concerns. the employer are always pushing for us to do more and improve ourselves which is a massive boost for us apprentices.
we get lots of support from our training provider when working towards our qualifications. they are constantly wanting us to do more and better ourselves and are always there if we have any issues or concerns or questions. the tutors are also very supportive and help us as much as they can
our qualification helps me in my job role because it is tailored to. the tutors always try and make it aircraft related when they can. I then apply this knowledge to my every day job. I feel the general learning skills and techniques can be applied to both my job and every day life.
yes there a plenty of extra curricular activity's which I can get involved in. I personally don't get involved with to many but I hear they all all excellent. I do however play football after work on Tuesday which I really enjoy and is a great way of exercising and meeting new people.
Yes
because in my opinion it is the best company around to work for and really look after their employees. also the work is interesting and it gives the employees lots of opportunities to better themselves and have career opportunities. I don't have a bad word to say about the place.
just to be yourself and make sure you're fully committed. also not to worry and if you don't get it first time keep trying as it will be worth it. and if you get in to try and experience as much as possible and always ask if you're unsure about something because everyone will always try and help you.
