  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job as a project manager requires me to over see the project on day to day basis. My role so far has mainly been handling the project admin and issuing PMI's, this has helping me gain a good understanding of the project and also has helped me gain a better construction knowledge.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • A skill which I have developed while being on the apprenticeship program is my use of Excel. Before stating my knowledge of excel was very limited and through using it on a daily basis my knowledge has improved. A new skill which I have learnt is how to correctly compose emails, this is key in my job as communication is very important.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from my employer, we are given buddy who are year above apprentices to help us with settling in and are an informal helper. This really helped as I could ask my buddy the more basic questions which I didn't want to ask my manager.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Mace to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Mace is a great company to work at, they provide great support and opportunities for all their staff not just apprentices. They send us on lots of training courses to help expose us to all aspect of the industry and this really helps gaining a better understanding of the job.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • Tips I would advise for people applying for Mace would be that just be confident and relaxed. You don't have to be the smartest person in the interview to get the job, its about how you are as person and also how you can work as part of a team as this is so important in construction.
