Throughout my apprenticeship, I have had several roles and tasks that I have been able to on responsibility for. From ensuring that the team has received a morning brief where we can ensure that they are fit to work and take any concerns or feedback from the staff to completing site visits to clients to ensure the contract is being fulfilled to our highest standard.
I have been able to work towards a CMI qualification in first line management whilst at Engie. Here I have developed many skills such as communication skills, Planning and organisational skills and have been able to widen my understanding of finance in business and where this would impact my day to day tasks.
I have enjoyed being able to work with a team of individuals who all share the same common goals that we can strive to work towards. This programme has been able to more than meet my expectations and given me opportunities to learn skills I never thought I would have the chance to learn and build upon.
When we first started we were given training dates that stretched over the course of the apprenticeship so we were able to plan our work schedules around these from the beginning. At each placement i have had my QA mentor changed which was difficult at times but had enabled me to learn skills off several mentors across the institute.
There is an open door attitude at Engie and everyone I have met along my journey have been more than supportive. There has never been a time where I felt that I could not talk to someone about concerns I may have had. When I started I was given a buddy who was also available to me before my first day.
Through the training provider, I have had several skills coaches that I have been able to talk through my assignments and support me with evidence. These have been helpful to contact and always happy to help with advice. I Know that i will always receive a helpful reply asap that will ensure i have all the information i need
The Qualification I have taken whilst in the business had definitely helped me to perform better in my role. I have been able to learn new skills and approaches that I have been able to use at work on a regular basis with team members commenting on how much I have been able to develop after each session I have attended.
I have been able to take part in several extracurricular activities whilst working at engie including being an active member of the employee Social Group who met monthly to socialise outside of work. I have also had the chance to take part in several conferences where I was able to network with a senior member of the company
Yes
I would recommend Engie as it is a global business that operates a high levels and enables you to develop to the level you desire to be at. The support I have received whilst here has enabled my confidence to increase and has inspired me to strive for opportunities I never dreamed I would have.
Be prepared to showcase what experience you have and what you can bring to the business. Whilst on the scheme don't be afraid to ask to get involved in areas you are interested in and get involved with the extracurricular activities taking place in the teams you are working with and the business as a whole.
