On a day-to-day basis I am involved with raising invoices, cash collection and purchasing/paying suppliers. I also do work with certain budgets such as our apprenticeship and training budget. Through this I work with external and internal customers on a daily bases, to work for getting invoices raised and paid.
I have developed my person skills such as communication and confidence. I have also developed skills such as time management and target setting through balancing my day-to-day work and college work.I have gained new technical skills from my job such as more knowledge in excel and our invoice raising system.
The course has been enjoyable, there has been some difficulties/confusion with the paperwork surrounding the course such as being sent the wrong paper work to complete or being advised late on about my portfolio. The course itself has been enjoyable and worthwhile. The content is presented well in class.
The programme has a set structure so the course has been well organised, but there has been some organisational problems concerning paperwork which has been previously mentioned. There has also been some confusion about why some courses have had the in class teaching time cut down but the content hasn't been, due to this we couldn't cover everything, which was poorly organised.
I received a good amount of support from my supplier by being able to work from home to do study/revision days when I need them. I have quarterly meetings with my manager about my progress and how I am finding work and any areas for me to improve on.
I receive a decent amount of support from my provider, I have monthly phone calls with a tutor/coach to go through any problems I may have with my course at the time and to go over what my next steps will be and deadlines for work such as my portfolio.
My qualification has given my a better understanding of what I do and what my manager does, such as work with journals. Day-to-day it doesn't always come up but it has given me more base knowledge of which my job builds on. My course was delayed so I had already become settled into my job by the time I started my apprenticeship so it had little effect on some working.
There are multiple extra-curricular activities available to myself and my colleagues such as Pilates and boxing classes put on after work and weekly lunchtime walks. For the apprentices we also go to high borrans for a week together as an ice breaker and a way to get to know each other.
Yes
It has been a good place to work which offers a varying amount of apprenticeships and gives good support on you apprenticeship work. It also has a friendly attitude and can give a large amount of knowledge about the working world to someone who is just starting to work themselves.
To have confidence in yourself but also to be willing to rely on others for help. I would also recommend that you work out a clear schedule for when you are going to do your college work. I would recommend that you prepare yourself to have to interact with a large amount of people on a daily basis.
