  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Existing skills include teamwork and communication. New skills include developing engineering foundation knowledge and experience to support my future role as a technical designer for bae systems

    8/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy my programme though I feel that some of the framework for the first year of the apprenticeship is not entirely necessary for the role I am being prepared for

    7/10

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BAE Systems?
  • I feel valued by regular communication with the early careers and apprenticeship support team

    7/10

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Some of the course content seems irrelevant, such as the mechanical rotations. Occasionally there have been a lot of assignments to complete at once, which could have been spread out more

    10/10

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • In the majority of lessons I have received the support I need. During the pipework rotation I did not feel supported by the tutors and they were often unapproachable. There is not enough time to complete the assessments which meant our whole class had to come back in our own time, which often meant the workshop was overcrowded and there was not enough tutor support as required.

    5/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel fully supported by my employer and I feel as though I can approach them if I need help and they will provide me with additional support should I require it.

    8/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • During the first eighteen months the salary is lower than my previous salary but I know that I am working towards a better salary through my apprenticeship. Bae apprenticeships have a higher salary than most other apprenticeships in my local area.

    7/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Not sure

    5/10

  • 9. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel that this apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity to work for such a prestigious international company

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Be as detailed as possible in your application, don't miss anything out. Prepare yourself properly for your interview and practise well.
