During my work experience, employees of Deloitte and outside professionals would come in a do work shops with us. These workshops ranged from developing presentation skills, a two day case study on what a business like Deloitte have to go through to help a client and workshops on Audit/ Tax.
During my work experience I gained a deeper insight into what the job roles were of Tax advisors, auditors and consultants were. I also gained a greater knowledge in presentation skills. Which I now understand is also an important part of the employees at Deloitte. Even if I was not going into this field the skills I learned in presenting and networking are transferable.
During my work experience I got to meet a great deal of new people as well as gain an insight into what a career at Deloitte entails. I enjoyed this work experience throughly particularly the work shop on audit and tax. The work experience was well plannned and structured. Overall I enjoyed the week thoroughly.
From the outset of the week we were giving work books detailing the schedule for the week indicating that a great deal of planning went into the work experience. Everyone who spoke at the work shops were also were well prepared and were keen to answer any questions we had.
During my work experience I learned that companies like Deloitte have a set of values that the company lives buy. Another thing I learned was the value they place on their employees creating a good work environment and providing benefits. Since Deloitte is also one of the big four it also provides an insight into what it’s like to work for one of them.
My work experience only solidified my desire to study accounting and find a career in the accounting field. The work shops were very informative proving me with the answers to the questions I had prior to my work experience. I am particularly interested in the field of audit as it allows me to travel around and not just stay in an office.
I was reimbursed for all my travel at the end of my work experience. During my work experience I had to take a train from East Kilbride to Glasgow everyday which cost £6,60 each day. At the end of the week we were given a form to fill out which would allow us to have our travel money reimbursed.
There were many opportunities for networking and meeting the staff at Deloitte. During each work shop there were employees qualified in the specific field present to provide a greater insight into the role and answer any questions presented. There was also a lunch where employees came to sit and networking with us.
Yes
