  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I help with client presentations and collating of data. I then can also be involved in work shops with the client to gather their requirements and then help with the content for these workshops. i've also been involved in internal work, such as communications within the firm on current activities and events.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot and we have the opportunity to learn as much as we want. I've undertook many courses from IT based to more learning based. Through university, the work we have been studying has linked well to our work life which has helped us achieve higher grades

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • As being the first cohort in through Deloitte's door, it's been mixed emotions. Many times we havent been listened too or things that have been promised to us have been revoked. Although, when busy, which is rarely for myself, i do enjoy my work and also the studying

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Moderately. Many things that were already structured have been changed often and currently we arent aware if our dissertation is set in stone with exactly how its going to run and be managed, and its less than 3 months away. I wouldnt rate this any higher than a 4 due to this

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I know they have supported other colleagues of mine much better than my own experience. but for myself ive had very little support. I've had no manager within my office and i have been left to my own devices alot, even when ive asked for the help and guidance. I also had a stretched period of time off work sick and i have very little help or support when i returned

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • all of our lecturer's within ulster university have been really supportive and helpful throughout our course. We've even had them go over and above to ensure we are fully equip and ready for examinations and coursework. There has always been support available from module coordinators at all times.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Although some modules werent as relating to my work as others, those that are helped massively. i can confidently say that it has helped me get a different perspective on how you learn in work compared to university as you gain the base knowledge which helps to excel myself in my work

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Theres always social events happening and theres also a few sporting teams. I have chose personally to not get involved much but the opportunity is there for me. I have my own personally hobbies outside of work and i also live 60 miles from work, so after work drinks do not suit.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Although i havent had a really great experience, they are a good company to work for. You get well looked after and its what you make of it yourself. Given the lack of help and guidance i've received, i wouldnt recommend them, but i know this is only a personal situation, and not a good reflection of how everyone is treated

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Be open minded but also know what you want to achieve and get out of the experience and time with them. You have to want to be productive and to be independent. If you get many opportunities, you can be put under a lot of pressure. Be independent and ask loads of questions to get a better understanding of everything
