My work experience involved meeting new people, from other students to experienced members of Deloitte. As well as this in groups we had to complete case studies on Audit and Assurance, similar to what members of Deloitte do on a day to day basis and present our findings to the rest of the group.
From my work experience I developed my team working skills as I was working with other students, who I have never met before. As well as this I improved my presenting skills by presenting to other members and making sure that I was able to pitch my groups idea. I also developed my professional skills as I was in a professional environment.
I really enjoyed my work experience at Deloitte as it was something that was out of my comfort zone and something that I hadn't done before, being in a professional environment and surrounded by professional individuals. This made the whole experience very exciting for me in addition to being able to network and meet others.
My work experience was very organised. I say this because there was no waiting around and a smooth and productive rota was followed in order to help the running of the daily activities. We always had something to do, from group tasks to an open floor, and wasn't left without.
I learned a lot about the company Deloitte, a lot that I didn't know previously. I learned that many of the workers are able to travel whilst working and many are not stuck in an office doing the same work. It is a very professional and exciting company to work for.
My work experience did help me in deciding my future career path, as from the activities I completed whilst I was there I knew that accounting was something that I didn't want to do. However other paths like HR was more appealing to me and led to me finding more information about it.
I was not paid for this experience, however all of my travel expenses were covered and paid for. For instance I had to take the bus in order to get to Birmingham City Centre, where Deloitte is located. The money I used to pay for a bus pass was reimbursed, with evidence provided.
Most definitely, there was numerous opportunities for networking and meeting other employees. For instance there was an open floor and panel of Deloitte workers, whom we could ask questions about Deloitte. As well as this just by being in a working environment with other employees was an opportunity it self.
Yes
Deloitte is a fun, exciting and intriguing place to work, which is what I have gathered from my work experience during the summer. It is different to what my friends had experienced, for example working in the office back at school, whereas I was out in a different environment doing things that I had never done before.
Those who are applying to Deloitte, I would advice them to look presentable and come with the right attitude for working in a professional environment. As well as this make sure you are on time and punctual. Make sure you are ready to work and come with an open mind.
