Inputting data into the system, leasing with hotels and delegates as part of the programme i am in charge of. as the programme i run runs for the whole year i have to make sure i keep up to date of any changes in delegates e.g. can not make it to the session, i also have to make sure everything is ok with the hotel and they have the right information from our side.
ICT Skills - using Microsoft offices i never used as often as now before. communication - i communicate more now with other organisations more often which has not only helped with my communication skills but also my confidence level in communication. Punctuality - through work the punctuality is very important and throughout my work months it has only improved. Team work - leasing with my colleagues and understanding what their role is and also made us build a friendly relationship. Negotiation skills - through the programme i am in charge of i have to negotiate rates with hotels and number of delegates.
I enjoy the programme very much as it is something i have not done before and it is the opposite of what i had set out from college to do. which makes it very interesting as i am learning new skills which i did not learn through my college or University days.
It is structured very well within my area of business everyone is aware of their roles and responsibility. It also organised in a way that if someone is struggling them their people who they can turn to for help and guidance. Through the organisation everyone has the opportunity to contact and speak to each other regarding either them needing some from of training or card and it is not split in half were the site people do not only communicate with site but they have to communicate other people within the business.
I received a lot of support this included one to one from training provider and from my team. from the first day of my job to now i have received training helping to understand the software used within the business to the people outside business we lease with. i have been taught new skills which i did not come across very often before like emails , spread sheets.
I received a lot of support not only with the my actual role but with my work that i am expected to complete for my NVQ. my trainer provider sits and communicates with people from my college if i ever needs a little extra help understanding as to what i have to do. Also offering me extra time if needed with NVQ workload.
The skills that i learn and pick up from my qualification i can implement them within my work helping to build upon those skills. through my qualification i am also given the opportunity to build upon my skills in using Microsoft that are used often within my work and through this i strengthen them.
Within my office their are opportunities where the office gets to visit sites to see what work is happening and also how our work impacts and help them. As this helps to understand why we do what we do and what the purpose is. it also helps us meet other people from the company and communicate with them face to face and not just through emails and telephones.
Yes
i believe through BAM Nuttall you can build a career or even start a career as the depth of knowledge you get through the business is extraordinary. as this is my first job role the support and guidance i have been given is brilliant and i am learning through courses and practical work.
If they are given the opportunity to work within the company then i believe this opportunity should not be taken lightly as this opportunity will build not only your career but it also builds you as a person. Working hard is important as if you waste this opportunity through slaking then you are loosing out on one big opportunity.
