The work experience mainly involved learning and gaining insight into the different roles within an accounting firm. For instance we gained precious knowledge of the different roles of a consultant, manager, accountant, etc. This was very useful as these jobs may be a potential career in the near future. We also gave presentations decreasing our social anxiety.
I gained co-ordintaion skills and public-speaking skills, especially during the presentations when we had to speak in front of an unknow audience. Despite nervous at first it became better throughout the three days. Also leadership is another skill I gained when instructing the group members their roles and ensuring all goes well.
The work experience was a wonderful and delightful experience. Especially through meeting people of a similar age from all parts of the country. I would definetly recommend it especially to students aspiring to pursue a career in the area of banking, finance and accounting, as the experience mainly targeted this.
Our work experience was organised very well. Despite finding the place a bit of a struggle, the staff members were very friendly and ensured we had a great time. The work experience was very well conducted with the staff knowing exactly what to do. Would definitely do it again if given another chance.
I gained a lot of useful information throughout the three days about the company as a whole and the main roles within the organisation. Such as the role of a consultant, accountant, manager were all explained in depth from an actual employee hence made the understanding process much much easier.
The work experience wasnt that significant in deciding my career path as despite gaining a lot of information and wealth about Deloittes and the roles within, the three day placement could have gave us a chance to see what exactly the employees do. This would have been more helpful in aiding us decide our career.
My commute involved taking the jubilee from stanmore station to westminister and then taking the district or circle line to blackfriars. My total cost ended with around £4 a day hence overall £12 for the 3 days. Despite having offered a chance to claim it back I didnt. Although many people travelling from far out did.
Yes there were plenty of opportunites to meet current deloitte employees and engage a conversation with them. This was very useful as we heard first hand examples and their opinion of their day to day life. This was by far one if the best bit if the work placement and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Yes
It was a delightful experience where I gained knowledge of various sectors within an accounting firm. I also made many friends from different schools and engaging a conversation with them increased my co-ordination skills as well as helping me come out my shell when giving the presentations to unfamiliar people.
Apply only and only if you want to learn and gain information about the company and if the area of accounting and banking is a potential future career. The work placement is totally recommended by me and ensure your application has a stand-out factor that filters you from the vast majority
