I am an assistant to the financial advisory service line of Deloitte. My day to day role involves carrying out essential internal tasks for the service line, which are a prerequisite before we can carry out work for the client. I will interact with my colleagues daily in order to ensure we complete each task.
I have gained new skills as well as developing skills that I already possessed while working at Deloitte. Through working in the role I have become a lot more competent in using my initiative when faced with problems as well as learning how to tackle problems proficiently. I have also developed my ICT skills while being at Deloitte as the role will involve being on a computer for the majority of the day.
I enjoy my programme as there is a good work life balance and you are also allowed enough time to complete your college work. My colleagues are all really friendly and I have met people I would consider to be my friends through the programme. There is an overall positive culture at Deloitte.
I feel like the college side of the programme could be organised more effectively, but I feel as the course is not particularly intellectually demanding that there is not a whole lot that could be done in that respect. However, the support from the college and Deloitte is adequate. In terms of the support in the working environment, you will be taught every process that you need to know with opportunities for further assistance if you do not quite understand something.
I have received full support from my employer in terms of if I have ever needed anything, or if I ever needed help with a situation. My management team are extremely forthcoming and easy to talk to. You are also assigned a mentor and a coach who are great to talk to.
We are giving adequate support from the college with our qualifications as we have access to a load of online resources. The college are also happy to answer questions we may have in terms of exams and other pieces of work. Guidance is readily available to access should anyone require it.
I feel that as the qualification is not specific to my role at Deloitte, it does not impact my role a great amount, perhaps in the future the programme could be more focused on Deloitte. This being said, the course teaches you the basics of business which give a platform of knowledge to build on.
There are plenty of extra curricular activities available to take part in at Deloitte. There are regular company meals and parties which are a bonus, as well as voluntary activities and sports such as a five a side. Deloitte also provide opportunities for employees to attend job fares in colleges to speak on behalf of Deloitte.
Yes
I would recommend Deloitte to a friend as I believe it is a company which has a positive ethos and is a place where you actually enjoy getting out of bed to go to. Not to mention the opportunity's for upward progression combined with the development of numerous skills.
Some tips and advice that I would give to people applying to work at Deloitte would be to firstly make sure that you do your research on the company, so that you have a basic understanding of what we do and what we are all about. I would also stress that it is important to be yourself in the interviews as well as being confident and positive in your abilities.
