I am a mechanical/electrical fitter at work which means I strip down engines to identify any faults they my have and get the chance to machine out new parts on the engine if they are damaged and I will also work on electrical components so, I will be able to wire up circuits, etc.
I have learnt to work as a part of a team when stripping down the engine as aparts are heavy and you have to work a s a pair to be able to lift them. I have also learnt to be more patient with things when I start to struggle as I know there is always someone who I can ask for help.
I enjoy working in a large group of people as their are lot of different personalities. The work I do is fun and exciting and every day is different and we are always learning new things, I feel like if I had a problem my instructor is easily approachable and I enjoy working under his supervision.
Sometimes it can be a little unorganised and unclear of what we are supposed to be doing when we are at work however, lately there has been a timeline put in place until the end of the year so we can identify what we are doing and when we will be doing it.
I receive a lot of support from my employer and I believe if I had any troubles or problems they are easily approachable and would do anything they could to help me out. In the past they have been very understanding and helpful when I have had problems and done all they can to help resolve the problems.
They are very helpful and patient with me when I am struggling, I can ask for help whenever I need to and they are willing to give it. They deliver the work clearly making it easy to take notes and they are easily approachable if I felt like there was something I didn't quite understand.
I feel like in my qualification I am learning new things everyday, which, are all relevant to my job role and helps me understand work more. They ensure that we do not pick up bad habits and that perform our task to the best of our ability meaning we will continue to do so when we are working.
Yes, there is a navy boat challenge where you can volunteer to help making a small boat for it to be in part of a competition. This is done in teams of about 6 made up by people in different trades so that they can all merge their ideas together and receive the best possible outcome.
Yes
They are a brilliant company to work for and include a lot of benefits such as the pension and share scheme. They are brilliant training providers and train us up properly ready for when we leave the training centre. They believe that we are the future of the company and so they spend lot of time, effort and money on us.
It is important to have an open mind and be prepared to work with a mixture of different personalities as everyone I different. I would also say it is good to have a hobby and work well in a team as you will always be working in a team here so you need to be able to get along with everyone, even those you may not necessarily hang around with outside of work.
