Currently I attend a college in Derby in order to gather initial and basic engineering based qualifications. These will give me a good foundation as to what various engineering based activities involve. I have just started my Open University course: Digital and Technology Professional as a day release basis for webinars and tutorials which are online based. Going forward I will be office based and working one day a week on my degree.
I have been able to develop my engineering based skills through studying at college and this has allowed me to improve my understanding of different engineering activities. I am going to be studying my OU course over the next few years which will help me to develop into my specialism of network engineering.
I enjoy finding out new information regarding engineering. I like developing my skills within both practical and classroom environments in order to further my understanding of the subject. Starting my Open University course has also given me motivation to do as well as I can knowing that I will get a degree qualification at the end.
My programme has been changed whilst working for Siemens, from an advanced apprenticeship to a degree apprenticeship. This was in recognition of my previous achievement and the identification of a more progressive step in my education. My manager and other staff at NTAR have been able to make this as organised and as seamless as possible.
If I ever have a problem regarding any situation I feel confident that contacting my manager will ensure that my issue will be resolved. If there is ever an issue then this is always dealt with as quickly as possible and solutions are always found in order to rectify them.
My training provider at college is always available to give me any help with tasks as I need it. At the Open University there are a range of people that will be able to help with any problems I encounter with my studies. There is also a range of resources specific to my module that can help me progress through the tasks set.
I feel that my current studies have been able to give me a good understanding of basic engineering activities. My degree specialism in network engineering will help me to perform better at Siemens due to the heavy involvement of this within the company. Network engineering will also be a useful qualification for my future at Siemens.
There are various CSR events which happen throughout every year within Siemens. This can include open days that may take place at the National Traing Academy for Rail. These events can be a good opportunity for networking with other employees and getting to know other people that you work with.
Yes
I think Siemens is a great company to work for. This is based on how if I have any problems they are always resolved as soon as possible. I have also been changed from my original advanced apprentice to a degree apprenticeship in order to ensure that I am making a progressive step. This to me shows how committed Siemens are to their employees and how they are genuinely interested in developing your skills.
If you are interested in applying to Siemens then you definitely should. I personally have found my experience so far really good and am looking forward to my future at the company. You can clearly tell that they are genuinely interested in developing you as an apprentice and are dedicated to making sure that you are looked after within the company.
