Operating production lines, this involves the general running of the line operating to standards set by SOP's,cleans, changeovers, AM, PQC checks and SIC. I also have to use a forklift to remove finished goods from the line to be prepared to be put onto trailers to be taken to distribution centres.
I have learnt engineering skills as well as other work place based knowledge, I have taken part in C.I projects and had training with HACCP as well as training in food safety, health and safety and other food workplace related training. I have also improved on my team work and communication as well as occasionally using leadership skills.
The programme has been laid out very well for us and has had plenty of support features involved, all units contained a power point presented to us by our tutor and any issues or questions we had/have are always answered with clear and well worded answers helping us to understand what it is we need to do.
The organisation/structure of the programme has been done to a very high standard, everything had appeared to be planned very well so there has never been times we have struggled to find out what to do, we have always known what days we need to be in for the programme and what time.
My employer has supported me throughout the whole process, whether it be my immediate manager or senior management, both have been very supportive and have made sure I was able to do whatever it was I needed to do and they were always very happy to help with any issues that may have come up.
The support recieved from the training provider in my opinion has been brilliant. They have always been very attentive to us even during the slightly harder units, and in the lead up to exams have given plenty of time and also tasks to help prepare us for each task at hand.
Everything from the course has changed the way I view my role and perform within my role, I have a much clearer understanding of the importance of food safety and food hygiene. I also have been able to better understand the need for C.I and their tools which before the course I had not had any experience with.
There are social events that are usually planned by immediate managers or by the staff, there are also events held for celebrations or holiday times. There is also a football team that has been set up for us and gives the opportunity to play against other factories at different events,
Yes
Premier has always supported me in whatever role I have, they have plenty of opportunities to follow a career path of my choice within the company depending on my interests. Always willing to help with training and also to let people make changes that they want to make, for example with SOP updates on lines.
Get involved and don't be afraid to talk to people, its a very good working environment which is helped by the many characters that work here. The managers are all very helpful and happy to give advise so if you ever need any then pretty much anyone will be happy to help.
