  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I was responsible for monitoring our orders online then obtaining these from the store room. I would then do a stock check using our IT system to monitor how much we had left in case any other consumers were hoping to order the same item. Also, I had responsibilities in helping the team package the items before I contacted the courier service.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have defiantly learned time management skills as the tasks have to be completed to a tight schedule. This in tern meant that I became more organised and therefore trustworthy allowing me to take on greater responsibilities. My It skills improved as my work was 9 times out of 10 carried out using technology.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really liked the programme and would have to give it ten out of ten. I learnt various new skills as well as maintaining/developing the ones I already had. I liked the sense of responsibility I had as often my colleagues would be solely relying on me to get a task done.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well structured to say the least. Everything is laid out clearly for you, exactly how an apprenticeship should be done. There was a clear progression route on top of this so I knew where to aim for in my career. Lastly, my training provider maintained a clear session plan in the lessons.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • They are always on site when you need assistance and you can go to them with any and all queries you may have. They also offer you training courses both on and off site which can help you a lot in the job. Lastly, you get regular appraisals which helped me to understand the areas for improvement.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received more support from my employer but still a great deal from the training provider. They were available in college when I needed them and even responded to my emails on weekends, something I would have expected them to do. Additionally, they helped me to move onto a more advanced course when my one was complete.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that it has helped me a lot because it helps but knowledge into perspective. On top of that you can't work in this industry without the right qualifications, therefore they have helped me not only in my current and previous role but any job role i wish to partake in in future.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • T be honest there aren't a lot but there are of course the office parties at Christmas and they offered to arrange something on New Year's eve for those who wanted it. We get to go on team building days which are always fun and a great break from the routine.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Amazon to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • First of all, the pay is excellent for someone of my age and the colleagues you get are easy to work with; I didn't have a single problem working with any of them. Every day there's a new challenge but overall the day isn't exhausting like most 9 to 5 jobs can be.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon?
  • Make sure to be the best you you can be as they often praise the quality and quantity of your work. I also took every training course they offered me as now I have various qualifications and course certificates that the company paid for under my apprenticeship. This has helped to make me more employable for the future.
