For my first year I am in full time training at 2 colleges, Midkent College and the College of North East London. At Midkent I am continuing my national level 3 extended diploma in engineering and at CONEL I am taking the PEO course (performing engineering operations). A standard weeks consists of attending college and undergoing practical tasks and assignments to enhance my knowledge.
I cannot explain how much I have learned over the past few months especially at CONEL College, ranging from the basic engineering techniques to learning how to dismantle and maintain various components such as lathes, motorbikes and even a train chassis. Also I feel as if I am doing really well.
I cannot stress enough how glad I am that I took this apprenticeship. I have not looked back since I started the programme and happy im not still at school studying A-levels. Both of my parents are very proud of my career paths first step. I have enjoy every moment so far.
My whole apprenticeship is very well organized due to the great management and resources I was supplied with such as a work phone, uniform, laptop and other essentials to enhance my quality of work. All issues so far have been dealt with professionally and management snd HR have both helped in each situation.
My company deals with all issues of mine very helpfully and proffessionaly. Every couple of months I have a meeting with HR to see how I'm finding the courses and to check on my wellbeing, work process, attendance and punctuality. The meetings help me improve and work out which aspects I need to improve
My line manager is very helpful and offers all possible educational opportunities. I would like to eventually proceed into a higher national certificate (HNC) and then potentially a higher national diploma in electrical engineering. I feel as if this would allow me to reach and fulfil my potential to be the most successful I can. My management will help guide me in the right direction.
As I previously stated I have learned all types of skills, techniques and knowledge within the trade before I started the apprenticeship. The PEO teaches me basic knowledge from the start such as filing and making small workpieces whereas i have now moved onto dismantling heavy machinery to maintain the machine
Siemens offer so many opportunities ranging from a yoga club at the office to even a gym to use. There is a social networking site to communicate with all employees. Also team building days are regular and also Christmas parties make a difference as they allow you to speak to other employees.
Yes
As I previously stated I have not looked back since I started the apprenticeship programme. I have enjoyed every minute of college training and learning all skills and techniques. Also little things such as a work phone and laptop all make my experience better as it allows me to communicate with my manager and other employees
Be yourself and ensure you will try your best every day when working for the company as hard work always pays off. The company offers so many opportunities such as working abroad and working in amazing places in the busiest cities in the world. I advise people to always try their best
