I undertake a number of rotational placements throughout the business. These placements cover areas such as field service, large drives, health and safety, internal sales, customer care and technical support. This allows me to gain a wide range of skills and to develop a large network within and outside the business.
I have learned a number of things during my apprenticeship to date. My electrical knowledge has been greatly improved through the college courses and the work undertaken within the office and on site visits. I have also developed my interpersonal skills through moving throughout the business meeting new people on a regular basis.
The enjoyment of my programme is generally based on the current placement that I am undertaking. As there is a wide range of placements not all of them will be suited for the work that I want to undertake. When I am in a placement I am enjoying however I really enjoy my programme.
The programme has a solid structure and has a clear outlook on what you will gain from the programme, what you can expect to do throughout the programme and what is on offer at the end of the programme. Placements are also flexible to allow for extended placements where necessary.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. This comes in a number of ways such as training, on the job support with work and general personal support in one to one meetings. We also receive a lot of support in regards to offering up improvements for the college training.
We receive a fair amount of support from the training provider in regards to working towards my qualifications. This is dependent on tutor to tutor however and some are better at others when it comes to supporting our work, however as a whole the support that i receive is good.
I think that the degree and certain parts of the college course help with my job role but there are large parts of the college course in particular that don't completely match up with the work that I am undertaking in the workplace. Overall however they are a good match.
There are a wide range of extra-curricular activities that we can get involved in as apprentices. The next uk group provide a number of activities that can be undertaken on a regular basis. Apprentice social events are held when new apprentices start to help settle them in and coffee roulette is also held monthly.
Yes
They are a very good training provider and a good company to work for. They provide a lot of benefits for their employees through the my choices portal and are also a company that care a lot about their employees and are there to help as much as possible in everything that you do.
Make sure that you put as much information about yourself and what you have done in your application such as volunteering events and extra-curricular things that you have undertaken in the past as siemens care a lot about these things and it isnt all about grades and qualifications when it comes to getting a job.
