On a daily basis, I currently commute to college into the City of Bristol College where I do my BTEC Level 3 as well as relevant PEO units that I learn the required fundamental skills for my job role. But occasionally I commute out to the field to work on site with customers.
I have learnt plenty of new skills in this apprenticeship both practical hands on skills but also personal skills, therefore improving my organization and efficiency when working. In addition to this I have learnt how to perform electrical maintaince and various fault finding techniques that I can use whilst in the field.
I thoroughly enjoy this program as it offices a wide range of opportunities to both learn new skills but also develop existing skills in and out of the workplace. With a variety of different PEO units I am constantly doing something different and new each day working towards my final qualification.
The program is very well organized/structured, with a general overview of the entire apprenticeship when we first joined given to us. But also have regular meetings with my employeer reviewing the progress that I am making whilst I am at college, and deal with any issues that I may have.
I receive plenty of support from my employer who helps find jobs to join in with and participate in when I am out in the field, but also provides me with plenty of resources to help with my work and answer any questions or queries that I may have at all.
I receive a moderate amount of support from my training provider when working towards my qualifications. The feedback that I eventually receive takes time to come but when I do receive it, it is often helpful. And the class sizes are relatively small allowing the teacher to provide support to all.
My qualifications help me perform better in my role, as they allow me to understand the basic principles behind engineering, and allow me to apply them to my job role working out on the field. But also practically apply them and develop them when on-site working in different environments with the customers.
Not that I am aware, however there are team forums and socials twice a year allowing you to discuss important matters but also develop as a team so you area able to work much more efficiently allowing for better overall performance. It is not widely advertised though extra-curricular activities at work.
