It involved listening to different talks held by members of particular teams for example, speakers for tax auditing gave us a scenario for which we had to as a group resolve. We also role played as a group and proposed our own recruitment company ideas to a ‘senior partner’ within our role play company.
The skills I learnt were invaluable, after having extensive talks from a man who explained to us how to talk and engage in interviews for example to how we can improve first impressions from small changes in our prior interview technique. Also I got to develop my speaking skills to a large crowd.
I enjoyed work experience a lot, I would definitely say one of my favourite things about my one week at Deloitte was meeting people my age from across London and getting the chance to engage with such a wide variety of characters. The hospitality throughout the week also never faltered.
Very well organised, without a doubt, on the first day where we have our passports in to be checked over, to just the course of the day which was always well planned and thought out and always to schedule. I always felt aware of what the day ahead would entail which was great.
I learnt a lot about the company culture and to me, from what I saw it seemed Deloitte do a lot to ensure all of their stuff are happy. I thinks some of the incentives in place ensure that everyone feels valued within the workplace which is something that I think I will be concious my workplace offers.
I think it helped me a lot in thinking about the future and generally just where I see my life going. I think Deloitte definitely seems like a positive option for me after university if I feel like at the point in my life I want to work in offices which is nice to know.
No I wasn’t because I lived near to where Deloitte was based so everyday I took the bus which is free for me. However, some of my friends that did live further and took the train and other forms of costly travel were reimbursed for all of their extra expenditure.
There were definitely options for networking and meeting other employees but I found there want any time for any real contacts to be made with with the employees. However, just the idea of networking and definitely made me aware of what I can do in the future to make useful contacts.
Yes
Because it was a really great experience that I feel would benefit anyone my age, I feel like I grew as an individual and grew in confidence professionally and emotionally . It’s definitely worth it because at Deloitte you’re treated like an adult not just a student from school.
To have fun and make the most out of the opportunity by pushing themselves out of their comfort zones. I think also really engaging with all of the activities and tasks set and taking them seriously so that you can take skills from the role play scenarios to the real world.
