I'm a trainee manager, I have to learn and work at the same time. On my apprenticeship I will work thru all the job roles at a McDonald's store from crew to business manager over 5 years. I have training for work and I also am studding a level 3 in hospitality and when completed a degree in management
Both, I have developed many skills j had before I started my apprenticeship, but have also learned and gained many more. Such as leadership, deligation and being a manager, I have developed communication skills as different approaches are needed when being a manager, as you need to lead but also be authoritative.
I really enjoy me apprenticeship because everyday is different, fast paced and needs good problem solving skills. There is so much to learn, and there's always someone to talk to and have a laugh with. I enjoy working on something I am interested in, and feel every supportive every step of the way.
Lifetime sends me work each month which I complete using their online resources and then I have a meeting to go over the work and sign it off. I am given time to complete the work and can asked for more if wanted. Their is a very clear path way in both aspects in store and lifetime
I have a mentor at work, who works with me and keeps me on track. My business manager tho not my mentor is supportive and I can go talk to her about anything, and she's always willing to help. My franchisee is very supportive and will keep me updated on everything going on and is always willing to help and give me the info I need.
I can email, ring and text my trainer if I need her, she is quick to respond and give me everything possible to help me achieve the best grade I could get at the end point assesment. She sets meetings around me and makes sure my store is doing their bit in my apprenticeship
The training I'm getting in generalized to all business which helps me to keep thinking outside the box. Working at McDonald's its very easy to get sucked in and only think about what we do, when learning about other business we can compare and really go into the why to get a greater understanding.
Yes, work likes to do events so everyone can get to know each other better, this makes it a great work environment as everyone gets on. I also get sent on acouple day trips with the other McDonald's apprentices to keep us learning and communicating, this makes an amazing support system, and really helps with the stress.
Yes
I enjoy working there, I'm getting so much out of it. Getting work experience and my education at the same time is an amazing opportunity, I'm learning so much and I feel like it's so worth doing, I'd recommend it to anyone as the opportunity is endless, and McDonald's training is second to none.
Forget the stereotypes, working here is amazing, be yourself and be honest, and always do your research. It's hard work but it's worth it completely, and some days when on the apprenticeship your going to feel stressed and overwhelmed at the work load, just ask for help or talk to someone, this apprenticeship is hard work but the end result will set you up for life.
