I learnt a lot during my time at Deloitte. The staff who were working with was kind and informative and gave guidance whenever asked. It also allowed me to meet other people who have the same passion as me and allowed me to expand my contacts with the other students and staff
I had no clue about things like audit and other things related to economics and finance as I did not take these subjects for my A levels and so I was confused at the start however I started to get a hang of it. I also improved my public speaking as this was an area which was weak for me.
I did enjoy it as it put me in situations I have not been in before. There were many group activities which were very fun to do and allowed me to get to know the other people in the work experience. However, I did think I was going to be doing things involved in Deloitte and not just doing case studies.
The work experience was well organised. I was sent emails well before the start of the week which meant I had time to plan travel. They also had scheduled lunch and end time so there was no uncertainty of when these were gonna be. They also had enough equipment such as pens and books.
I had never been in an office environment or a big company building so when I was there for my work experience it really opened my eyes to the working office environment and showed me the behaviour expected in a professional space. Deloitte also showcased the social aspects of the company which surprised me as I thought there would not be as many.
It had a major impact on my career path as now I know that when looking into jobs for companies I will see if the company has things such as social events so that the job seems more enjoyable and not just a place to work but make contacts and socialise.
Yes, I was reimbursed for the travel costs to the office. They provided a letter which had information about reimbursement, how long would it take, what information would I need to give. As said in the information after 2 weeks of sending my reimbursement form I had received the exact amount from Deloitte
Yes, there were many opportunities for networking and meeting other employees. There was one day where a bunch of employees were sat in a panel and we were allowed to ask any question about work or Deloitte and so from this, I learnt a lot about Deloitte and working there.
Yes
I would recommend the Deloitte work experience to a friend as it gives you an idea of the values and the expected behaviours at a professional company such as Deloitte. It also helps improve a variety of skills such as public speaking which is something I was struggling with at the beginning however now I'm more confident.
My advice to anyone applying to Deloitte work experience is to show yourself as much as you can in your applications and show all your strengths however show how you have used those strengths in life. Also, include why this work experience will benefit you and you're just not applying for the sake of it
