  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my day to day role I am responsible for ensuring that my project are completing the governance and control methods required for successful completion of the project. This involves tracking my projects, Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies, gathering updates from colleagues in the team and collating these for presentation to our stakeholders.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time on the Project Manager apprenticeship I have been learning a mix of new skills and developing my existing skills. I have learnt how to use the Change Management Toolkit, this is instrumental in my role. I have been developing my interpersonal skills, developing how I communicate with colleague across the hierarchy.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my apprenticeship with Lloyds Banking Group. I have found that Lloyds is committed to providing colleagues with opportunities to develop themselves, whether this be in their current role or development for a future role. The apprenticeship is another example of this, I am able to learn more about my role in Lloyds, how this compares to the rest of the market and other areas within the bank I might be interested in working in.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The Project Management apprenticeship from Lloyds Banking Group is partnered with Kaplan Financial team. My apprenticeship provides on the job training (working in the environment that applies to my qualification), a professional qualification (Associate Project Manager qualification) and a Level 4 qualification. I am responsible for making sure I am completing the training and learning for the professional and level 4 qualification.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • In my apprenticeship with Lloyds Banking Group I have several points of contact and support. From Lloyds Banking Group I have my assigned line manager, this is the manager within the team I work in. I am also supported by the Yorkshire 2018 cohort manager, she is there so support me with anything related to my performance and the apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In my apprenticeship with Lloyds Banking Group and Kaplan I am supported by a couple of people. I have a talent coach, this person is responsible for tracking and supporting my performance on the apprenticeship qualification and professional qualification. They have scheduled regular meeting with me to provide feedback on the work I have completed and how I can improve further going forward.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification I am working toward (provided by Kaplan Financial) will enable e to better perform in my role as a Project Manager. The qualification will push me to learn all aspects of the project life cycle, not just those pertinent to my role. This better understanding of the full lifecycle will enable me to appreciate how decisions and actions can impact the deliverables.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Within Lloyds Banking Group there are multiple opportunities to get involved in extra-curricular activities. Each site has there own Local Site Leadership team, this group of colleagues look after the site and promote activities that will be taking place. There are multiple clubs that colleagues can get involved in that help Britain prosper; Code club supports local schools by providing programming lessons for children, IT champions go out into their local area and support the community with the use of IT.

  • Yes

  • Lloyds Banking Group is committed to providing its colleagues with opportunities to develop themselves and the colleagues around them. This strategy leads to an inclusive relaxed environment where everyone is encouraged to achieve their best and continue to strive for a better workplace. It is great to see that the Senior leaders of Lloyds Banking Group are also committed to this vision and they actively support the promotion of this strategy.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • When joining Lloyds Banking Group make sure to keep the group wide values in mind. Always put the customer at the heart of everything you do. Keep things simple, if they are simple for us they will be simple for our customers. Make a difference together, a successful team makes a successful difference for our customers. Every action or decision you make should be for the betterment of our customers and aid in helping Britain prosper.
