Day to day start by answering emails that come in from internal and external sources, then I will often have various tasks to do. I will work through these, attend various meetings and listen in to training calls. I often meet with my managers to discuss progress and learn about new work coming up.
I have already learn a significant basis in taxation and how to use the various softwares required to complete my job. I have also been able to develop my communicative skills and my ability to present. Deloitte send you on a two week intensive course at the start of your apprenticeship, this was very beneficial
The Deloitte apprenticeship is very enjoyable, you often are given unique problem solving tasks and other members of the team will quickly pick up on your skills. For instance at university I spent a lot of time using excel and writing formulas, this quickly lead me to leading a project to model finances for a major law firm in my first few months.
The programme is very well structured, you attend college and all exams are always booked in advance, all you have to do is show up and pass. Additionally, you will always have a coach, buddy and exam officer who can answer the more simple questions you might have had, this is very useful.
I receive a lot of support from Deloitte, from the basic grades all the way to partner. Everyone will always make time top help you and provide you with answers to your questions. I always feel like if I don't know the answer someone will and this makes you feel far more comfortable.
We go to London from Cambridge for college, however we always get our trains expensed and the college is booked way in advance. Deloitte provide you with an exam time table a year in advance and this is massively helpful when trying to think about booking holidays and seeing when you will need to revise.
At the moment my qualification is not that relevant. The ACA qualifications has a few overlaps with tax but it is still quite abstract. In the future we will be studying for the CTA which will provide more useful technical insight. Nevertheless, the qualification is world renowned and gives you far better market awareness.
There are lots of networking events to attend and Deloitte will often take you out for meals to celebrate new joiners or people leaving. Additionally there are plenty of sports clubs and networking events to attend. There are also plenty of opportunities to start your own clubs or society if you so chose.
Yes
Deloitte is an excellent place to start your career, you receive a lot of support and great tuition. Deloitte is a world renowned Private and Financial services company. They are unrivalled in providing exposure to some of the biggest businesses in the world. Additionally, they provide a good overall package in terms of reward.
The online tests provide a lot of weighting towards your progress in the recruitment process. Also learning about the company more than on the first page of the website will stand you in good stead. Deloitte do a lot of charity work and many senior staff are passionate about that, would also be a good point for interviews.
