Largely I draft emails and documents for clients, including advisory reports based on technical research. I attend client conference calls and take notes as part of the team I work for. I also complete admin and take-on procedures for clients. I work across offices with different teams across England and internationally.
Yes - I have learnt a lot more about taxation, professional working environments and business etiquette, stress management and time management. I have also developed my soft skills including networking skills and tailoring content to the correct audiences. We attend a Tax Academy to provide us with soft skills and technical skills training before joining our offices.
My programme is challenging in that I must balance my work life with revision, but we are given regular study leave. I enjoy working with my office and in the teams that I am part of. Deloitte is a caring firm and we are well looked after. I enjoy working at Deloitte and look forward to when all my exams are completed.
My programme is very well structured and organised. Our exam dates are provided to us far in advance of the exams, and we each have a schedule for our exams which tracks the next two years of exam dates and exam revision. We also have internal Deloitte representatives who discuss our situation with Kaplan to ensure that we are in the best position.
We receive a large amount of support from our employer, including study leave and recognition of when we need to leave in order to study. We each have an informal and confidential Coach that we can meet on a regular basis when we feel it is appropriate to do so.
Kaplan provides us with the correct materials, and they also book our exams for us (although they could definitely communicate with us better regarding exams). We do have two online portals and online materials that we can explore and learn from, including video tutorials and online course materials to guide us through our learning programme for each exam. We also attend college at Kaplan institutions, with very knowledgeable tutors.
My qualification will provide me with the knowledge needed to largely perform my role, so it is key. Learning about the principals of financial management and the legal system surrounding it is important when working within taxation, as we must ensure that our advice is as accurate as possible for clients.
Yes, we regularly have socials and professional events. We have socials as part of the teams we sit in, the offices we work for, and the offices we are based in - including both evening and day-time events, day-long activity days and even evening meals with entertainment. Deloitte often encourage us to network with our peers, and most of our events are funded by Deloitte.

Deloitte is a caring employer, with good pay rates and very friendly staff. Everyone who I have met in the firm is lovely and definitely worth talking to. We receive a large number of benefits as part of the firm, including the option to buy additional holidays which is very useful, especially whilst studying for exams.
Smile and have personality, whilst remembering to be professional - everyone at the firm is very friendly, so we clearly hire friendly people! Make sure that you practice the online tests before taking them and for the video interview ensure that your background is appropriate for a professional interview. Also, try to relax - each video interview is reviewed by real people within the firm, so try and show them who you are and why we should hire you.
