  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in business tax, specifically in international. This means I get involved in a range of international tax projects. These include transfer pricing, restructuring and debt capacity. On a day to day basis I assist with all stages of the project life cycle. This starts with the take on, then drafting the deliverable, and then billing.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My time in college is very useful and helpful. When we do online workshops, these are less effective, I often feel it would be better splitting that time between more self study and college time. I have also had issues recently in accessing materials. Materials arrived late and were incomplete.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel my qualification really helps my performance in the office. The more exams I do, the more capable I feel I am to understand more complex issues that I encounter in the office. In particular my first CTA exam was very relevant to my work in the office and has really helped my progress.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great place to work and develop. They really care about getting you involved with interest work. They also give you a great opportunity to learn continuously and improve your knowledge. The people you work with are great and there is lots of fun to be had in and out of the office.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Be confident, have good commercial awareness and be prepared to discuss social aspects as well as professional topics. Preparation is key, take time to research Deloitte, what they do and what they stand for. Try to convey your personality when applying as they employ people who are able to interact with people, not just perform technical work.
