Compliance work - looking at computations takes up the majority of your day. Advisory work - helping with one off transactions, although less common these can be very interesting and great to get involved in. Admin - support engagement team organise the client workload, can be boring but it is an essential part
lots. all tax knowledge - we have completed a total of around 11 exams in the last year all of which really helps you perform well in work. The course brings a large variety in what you learn so if you were to continue your career elsewhere this will be a good backbone.
It is a really hard course and can get very stressful at times. You will feel snowed under and have to work a lot of weekends and take holiday for study in the first year. but it all does feel worth it in the end when you realise what you have learnt.
Well organised. Kaplan courses are structured online and face to face sessions for the harder topics. They provide tailored learned for the Deloitte employees so it is definatley worth it rather than attempting to do the course your self. Well structured, everything builds on so you do it in a good order
in the leeds office we receive a lot of support from the internal training and support team and we are assigned coaches who guide us in the best way possible with work and study related issues and topics. You can ask anyone for help from head office around admin and exam retakes - very little
We do get lots of support when it comes to tuition, turots are often happy for you to send additional questions outside the work designated time so they are really helpful in that way. All really friendly too which helps when it comes to asking questions so you don't feel like an idiot.
your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role on a day to day basis as it is really essential to what we do. It is really motivating when you see what you are learning outside work translates to your work - you don't feel like time is wasted learning
there are lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work, inside and outside, we have, for example, social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events. All really friendly in the office and love going out so what ever you prefer to do there will be something for you
Yes
This is by far the best job I've had and Deloitte is the best employer that I have worked for. They care about the employees, really focus on career progression and take the time to support you - recognising the importance of taking time to chill out and not 100% work all the time.
The tips or advice that I would give to others applying to Deloitte would be to be positive in the interview, be interested in the economy as this will effect your work on a daily basis, make sure you speak out and don't just drift into the background - just do it
