The work includes a variety of interesting aspects of Executive Consulting. Annual reports are looked at thoroughly throughout the course of the day. These include important information regarding executive pay, including Salary and bonuses - which can be split into long term incentive plans and also short term incentive plans also.
Yes I have learnt many new skills and also developed existing skills. I would say that my biggest improvement would be in my excel usage. I was fairly skilled with it during my time studying engineering at university, however the excellent training given here at Deloitte has for sure improved my skill and interest!
To what did I enjoy my programme? I would honestly say that I was worried coming into the programme, however I actually had the best time. The one thing I heard about Deloitte before joining was the great community between the people, and I can truly say that it has lived up to its word.
In terms of organisation and structure - The programme here is organised in the training and preparation for the actual work. Training sessions were a good way to get involved slowly with the work here. Another great thing is the buddy and coach system set up here to supervise on various matters.
The support given by Deloitte is immensely helpful, especially in the first few weeks of starting. Each analyst is partnered with a buddy and a coach. The buddy helps out with day to day aspects of the role, and the coach helps with the larger picture aspects such as client projects you are assigned to.
Each analyst group is given a examination coordinator to help with the exam process. Each exam is prepared for well by the exam coordinator giving ample time for preparation, as well as help when requested. Some exams have compulsory college classes which are extremely helpful. The tutors for these classes help when requested.
To be honest I would say that the qualification is not as suited to the role as much as I had expected. This was actually a nice surprise as I find the work aspect more interesting than the accounting content that I am learning for the qualification but that's just personal.
Yes however I have not had a chance to get involved in any. There is a great site called Yammer at Deloitte (Like the facebook for work) - It allows you to set up/ join any clubs/ societies you are interested in. It's also great for upcoming events which you are invited to/ want to join.
Yes
The people here are honestly really great. I can't believe that I am enjoying myself this at my first job! The work life balance is much better than I expected - everyone here understands your needs outside of work and respect them truly. The work here is amazing, definitely would recommend.
Make sure you ask for help. You are always going to have someone who knows someone who knows someone - use them. Don't be afraid to ask questions - whether its before applying, during the process or after you get the job! There are so many questions about the whole thing and its best if it comes from you!
