Currently I am dealing with the cladding package which involves tracking progress, communicating with the subcontractors and beginning to deal with any issues which may arise. I also regularly carry out engineering duties in order to help further understand the construction process because it is completely new to me. This involves things such as setting out such as gridline and surveys using the TS60.
Yes. Currently I feel as though I have developed my communication skills and have gained more confidence while being in my role. I also feel as though I am being more time efficient in the work place and I plan my day in accordance to the tasks which need to be done.
Currently I am enjoying the programme a lot. The main struggle that I have is finding the correct balance between studying and working. This can often become overwhelming, particularly when I have had a long week at work. I would appreciate there to be a greater correlation between what I am studying and the tasks I carry out at work as this would allow me to apply my knowledge in the working environment.
I feel as though my programme lacks structure and this can often become frustrating for both myself and my supervisor. At the moment I feel as though I am becoming too caught up with engineering duties despite this not being he degree I am working towards. I think it would be beneficial to have a properly structured programme for guidance.
I feel very well supported and taken care of by the employer. I feel very comfortable in my team and I am aware that if I have any questions the individuals I work with will be willing to share their knowledge with me. I also appreciate the fact that my supervisor allows himself to be involved with my apprenticeship programme because I feel a great sense of support from him.
Currently I am studying online so where there are any issues I am able to either email a tutor or ask for help on the student central area. I often find myself asking for help from my peer apprentices as I feel that they are more helpful than the tutors.
Due to the fact my current modules are law and people and organisational management I don't find that they benefit me to perform better. As I am not a Quantity surveyor the legal matters do not concern me on a day to day basis at work. Although people are organisational management talks about teamwork, leadership and change management I don't feel as though I have enough experience to apply these yet.
Yes. On a weekly basis a group of individuals organises a football match after work, this has become routine and they open to anyone to join. Particularly during the Christmas period there are a lot of opportunities for networking events or where the company will take us out as a treat for a thank you. I appreciate this as it shows the value which the company has.
Yes
I find that the company treats all employees very well and makes them feel welcome into the company. As well as this those who are in high positions can often be inaccessible by employees lower down the line, however the owners of the company, such as [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is sometimes on site. I appreciate this as I find that there is no sense of harsh hierarchy, yet everyone has a mutual respect for one another.
Ensure that you do your research on the company and its core values. This is very important to the company and is a basis of how we run our sites. I also think its so important to be yourself, those interviewing you will be able to see if you will integrate into the company well. You should also ensure that you have a genuine interest or passion for the job or role you are apply for as this will be evident during your interview. Of course, smile, that's what got me the job!
