My role at GSK is a Business Admin Apprentice. As a business administrator apprentice, I facilitate office organisation and communication by performing administrative tasks. These include; keeping well-organised files and records of business activity, ordering office supplies, updating spread sheets and scheduling appointments and events on a day to day basis.
As well as learning many new skills, I have also been able to develop an existing skill. My organizational skills. Not only are strong organizational skills needed to keep myself organized as an admin, they are also required to keep the whole office organized as well. I have strengthened this skill by organizing team events, schedules, and files in a system that works for everyone.
I love my programme! I really enjoy coming into work. The highlight for me has been my support system at work. My manager, my team and other GSK apprentices have really made my experience the best. You truly get to work with the most wonderful people. I know I have made lifelong friends!
The programme is very well structured. I have a clear understanding of the programme. I have many resources available to me to support my learning. I have a set plan of what needs to be completed every week. My progress and development is also monitored by both my course provider and my manager.
At GSK, I receive a large amount of support from my manager. We have weekly one to one meetings; in which we go through the tasks I have been working on that week and upcoming projects. She always encourages me to take part in any development opportunities or events that I may be interested in. I can always go to her if I need assistance or advice. As well as my manager, I also have a very supportive team.
I receive a good amount of support from my training provider. I have monthly meetings with my tutor to monitor my progress and development. My tutor also organises lessons, sets tasks and supports my learning. If I do struggle with a topic he will go through it with me again and provide resources to help my understanding.
The qualification from my training provider enables me to have a better understanding of the work that I do day-to-day. Therefore, I am more confident in my role, enabling me to be the best I can be and add value to the business. Through the programme, I have also been able to share my learning with others.
Yes! GSK has many extra-curricular activities available. I am a member of the fitness centre. Here, I play sports such as netball and basketball, take classes and use the gym facilities such as the rowing machine. It's great! Also, I have attended many GSK networking events... they give you the chance to interact and meet others in different areas. Lots of fun!
Yes
I would 100% recommend GSK to a friend! I have not only grown in my role working at GSK, I have grown as a person. I've only been here 6 months, and already I have attended many training sessions, seminars and events that have furthered my knowledge, skills and confidence. GSK really encourages growth and development and is full of opportunities... I've taken part in so many amazing projects! Choosing GSK was the best decision I ever made...
I would say the most important tip/advice would be to be yourself! Also, be prepared! Make sure you know a little about GSK, the values, expectations and know why you want to work for them. Do plenty of research in the area and the role you are applying for. Don't be afraid to ask questions! If there is something you want to know always ask.
