  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • through the 2 years spent on the apprenticeship I have thoroughly enjoyed working at BT and I have learnt a lot throughout the apprenticeship meeting a lot of different people and working in a lot of different areas of the business. I enjoyed working away when needed to for the Cable Recovery Team as they needed a Forklift Truck driver to help out in a different area which was an overnight stay. I enjoyed being out on the roads as a collection and delivery driver A few weeks into the apprenticeship there was a get together of all of BT's apprentices and I enjoyed being on that as I thought it was a good idea and a good eye opener to what other apprentices do in other lines of businesses.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At the start of the apprenticeship it seemed that it was unstructured however after this "hiccup" everything was structured and goals were set. when starting it took 3/4 months to sort out an assessor to grade my work within the workplace. I found that some of the documented work didn't really relate to my apprenticeship and I think something's can be removed and other aspects can be added however mostly I think it was down to the fact of me being the first apprentice here at BT supply chain within the logistic sector. I have been told that the next intake would be different. overall I found that it was well organised and structured

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from numerous amounts of people within the organisation and I know who to go to seek the right answers and support. at the first part of the apprenticeship there was a document called Employee Rights and Responsibilities, which covered everything about the support such as who to see and where to go including the relevance if it should involve my Line Manager or Supervisor or to call a certain number,

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • within the first couple of moths of where it was all being set as I set into the job, I was a bit confused and was only given certain contacts and different contacts to seek help from then when the issue was solved and it was decided who my NVQ assessor was I had his email and phone number to seek the relevant information or training needed

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like the training provider helped quite a lot as I had a response sometimes within a few hours and he was always happy to help me and always told me that I can ring him If I need help at anytime. if I didn't get an answer when I rang he would always ring me back within a few hours

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, every so often there has been trips come available such as social activates to visit BT tower, I have also been offered a place on a skiing trip. I was a member of The Apprentice Network for BT which organises activates for apprentices. outside of the apprentice side there is a yearly social activity organised for the transport team.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think BT is a very good company to work for and I definitely would recommend the apprenticeship I have just completed as there is many benefits from the apprenticeship. the wage is very good in BT and it increases after a year. Also BT look after you very well as I am eligible for a lot of different benefits and I also am included into a pension. within my apprenticeship agreement I am to complete my theory and practical test for my class 2 licence and also have had talks about getting my class 1 there after. there is room for me to now develop and grow into the business to get higher up the ladder.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
  • I would give the advice of being confident in yourself, you get given a few things to revise before your interview I would strongly suggest to revise this heavily as this shows you off and very impresses who is interviewing you. be engaging in a conversation and sell your self. Dress smart also as I was commented on being the only person interviewed in a suite within the selected few that was interviewed
