  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Within the business I am in control of booking appointments to remove meter for customers property. Furthermore, there is some investigation work included if a meter goes missing without us being made aware. Furthermore, Daily we have a team meeting to discuss the previous days issues and any arising matters, this keeps us in the loop as well as all managers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained confidence in speaking to customers. Furthermore, it has allowed me to gain experience in planning and development. This job has also improved my listening skills especially when speaking to customers, this is because it is vital to make sure that we are understanding the customer and their demands.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the program massively in terms of my day to day work. It is challenging the work and demand I do, but my colleagues make it very enjoyable, I know I can rely on them to help me with any difficult situations. Furthermore, I like to make sure I am helping the customers to the best of my ability.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The day to day work is well structure due to managers and colleagues. The apprenticeship side of the course could be improved as we often become confused with the training and can feel unsupported. Once a month we have a training day in which Remit come in to the work place an brief us of the work we need to complete.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • From my day to day manager of my team, my manager is very supportive in my development. She often asks for updates on my work load to make sure I don't fall behind. This has led to a lot of trust in her. The apprenticeship team give us support but due to the lack of communication I wouldn't turn to them.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel that sometimes that we could be supported further with any questions I have. They don't really reach out to me, but whenever I contacted them, they have been helpful. We only really get communication from them once a month, this can make it hard to speak to them about a demand.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The coursework side is very general in terms of the work, it isn't specific to Eon and sometimes we will do things differently. It makes me adapt and helps me perform. There are some aspects in which can be very useful but most businesses have their own processes in which we are expected to follow.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Within my team we will have social events such as team activities. This isn't related to the apprenticeship at all. We don't really communicate in our apprenticeship due to us being in different teams and we rarely see each other to speak arrange them due to our workload.

  • 9a. Would you recommend E.ON to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Eon as a business is a brilliant company to work for, this has many different opportunities in which I can partake. Furthermore they are very adaptable, and understanding. The work stream that they offer is very enjoyable and furthermore employees can get many benefits for working with the company including discount.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON?
  • If you can some how get in to Eon directly, it is a much better option then going through a agency. This gives many more benefits. Although, Agencies can be good, job security isn't as high as you can be sent back at any point. This can affect personal life in terms of lack of income.
