  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role centres around being a member of an engagement team responsible for advising on tax implications of share and asset sales as well as providing due diligence services when required. In addition I am also responsible for doing take on tasks and ensuring we can act for the client.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My communication skills have improved as well as my ability to multi task. New skills I have developed include writing emails in a professional manor which must convey technical concepts in an understandable manor. In addition, I have also enhanced my ability to present myself in a professional manor in front of clients.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme very much. It has been difficult but highly rewarding. being able to see the progression within the firm provides an incentive to work to the best of your ability. Being able to push my mental capacity beyond its limits has been highly rewarding and gratifying in addition to the work I did at uni.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Programme is well structured. First intuition have been very responsive in relation to any queries I have raised. They have provided videos clearly outlining the structure of the programme along with a timeline of the various tasks that need to be completed. In addition, the portal we have is very

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive extensive support. We have a designated HR person responsible for dealing with the programme. In addition, we have an internal coach assigned who is responsible for helping set objectives and meet long term goals. Further to this, we also have a people leader who we can approach with any day to day issues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • During the periods of study, we receive lots of support. The various tutors at first intuition are always on hand to ensure that any support we require is given to us. We receive numerous study materials to supplement the ICAEW learning material to ensure we understand all the concepts necessary to pass the exam.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • There are areas of the qualification such as the tax exams which are relevant to the role, however beyond this not much else is relevant. One key factor is the general financial mindeset that the exams install in to you. being able to have an understanding of broader financial concepts helps us.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Out side of work, socials are organised every 6 weeks. This may include events such as bowling, drinking down the pub or going for a meal. In addition, Deloitte has fooball teams which compete internally. Further to this, we also have away days once a year which centre around a core theme.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because they always provide you with support to succeed in your career. In addition, they use the mentiality that no question is a silly question which encourages you to come out of your shell. In addition, they are one of the top professional services firms in the world with the biggest clients and best advisors.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Just be you. Make sure that you show character and the desire to have a successful career and learn. Also, if you join Deloitte go in with an open mind set as the working environment is no what you expect it would be. Give the application your all as it will take dedication to get the role.
