I complete personal tax returns for clients throughout the year. I also complete reviews of personal ledger accounts during the year too. On top of this I also complete partnership and corporate tax returns. I respond to client queries every day either via email or telephone, along with contact HMRC on their behalf.
Since completing my apprenticeship and passing my ATT studies I have managed to develop my day to day knowledge which has meant I have provided much improved client service as I am able to deal with queries they may have with more knowledge and technique than prior to my studies.
The programme was useful as it has helped me in day to day work as well as teaching many transferrable skills by not only teaching me one area of tax. The programme was good because not only did it teach me about tax, I also learned a lot regarding law and ethics too.
The structure of the programme was very well thought out as we begun with 2 e-assessments which were then transferrable knowledge to the following paper exams. I personally liked the idea that we would complete a basic level course, then self study to understand what we were taught, then a few weeks before our exams we had a more in depth, question based course to prepare us for the final exam.
My employer were very good with my studies, allowing me plenty of time to be in the best shape possible to pass all of my exams. They also provided me spaces within the office to complete studies before and after I finished work, along with rooms I could use on my lunch breaks to study if need be.
The training provider were very good to help us pass by having many questions available as well as multiple past papers we could practice with. On top of these we also had an online library of presentation that we could view at any time, as well as all of our tutors being available on e-mail to answer any queries we may have.
As previously mentioned, by studying for ATT I have been able to improve my client service because the exams and studies are 100% relevant for the job that I perform. Not only this, they have developed knowledge that I can take with me if I were to diverse into a new role within tax.
There are many networking events that one can attend as well as many sports teams within my office. For example, I have played for the office football team on multiple occasions. We have had multiple bowling nights, meals out, we attend sporting events as a team as well as challenging other teams within the office to many different sports.

Since joining Deloitte I have developed so much in a very little amount of time. Due to the office having a diverse group of people you learn many different things, whether it be about work or life from all kinds of people. The role I am in allows me to continually develop everyday that I am working.
If you are applying for Deloitte, be open to all opportunities that may come your way. If you keep an open mind then you will learn a lot and develop extremely quickly. There are so many different avenues that if at first you don't find a role is good for you, there are so many areas you can look into.
