  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involved working with BT's live Network, fixing faults, being on the phone to engineers on site, monitoring traffic that goes through BT's equipment and reporting this so that this can be improved if need be. I'm involved with a lot of BT career events at different schools, promoting the apprenticeship with other student.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is structured pretty well, I have not had much experience in rotating into a different team yet but by the sounds of it, from the 2nd and 3rd year, all seems fine. So far everything has gone smoothly after being here for about 5 months, since September 2019.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from the team around me, there are always people to help me out on any problem that I get stuck with. My line manager and my other apprentices all seem keen on helping me, there are also a lot of resources available to help me too.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The university is alright, seems a bit unorganised, could've chosen a better university if I am honest as the UOS isn't the best. But the lectures seem okay and the lecturers seem helpful if you need help, I have only been there for 5 months so waiting to see what the rest of the course provides.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have only been here for 5 months so I have not learns a wide range of information to apply it for my day to day role. Some stuff links to what we're doing but a lot doesn't, but this also reflects me being in one team only so far.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many events that I could get involved with, this includes ping pong tournaments, football tournaments, fifa tournaments, pub and socialising events. I try to participate in as many of these as I can, they're pretty good and I enjoy going to them. There is a lot of people who participate in these too.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because BT is one of the biggest companies in the UK, there is many opportunities to progress throughout the business so you can always move into various areas of BT. Everyone here is keep to help out whether you get stuck on any problem you may have throughout your apprenticeship.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
  • I would make sure you're prepared for your application stage, as it is a long process but it will be worth it in the end. Make sure that you ask others for advice on the BT application process, if they have applied before, just so you know that you're ready.
