Working in teams on research on future technologies to be used by BT to improve their offering to customers. Most of my time is spent working on whatever project I am currently working on for my team, whether that be on my own or through discussions with other members of my team when I need some advice.
Developed my coding skills, communication skills. Learned a new programming language and also gained a greater understanding of telecommunications. Networking is encouraged to widen our knowledge and we get to work on lots of different technologies which means we gain a broad area of expertise. Has also improved my organisational skills as I have to manage my own time.
Very much so. There is a lot of variety in the work we get to do which means I am never bored. There is lots of support when I need it meaning I never feel overwhelmed or alone and we have a great group of apprentices to socialise with both in and out of work.
It's still a fairly new programme but the organisation is mostly good and is never horrendous. There are some occasions where organisation could be better but these are always being improved and the company quickly responds to feedback on how to improve the programme so it is always improving.
My employer gives lots of support, for both my university work and my day to day work. Not only do I have my line manager to go to with any problems, but I also have support from everyone in the team I work in and even members of other teams which are always willing to share their knowledge if they can.
I get lots of support from the University of Exeter. Lecturers are always accessible via email and are very quick to respond to any problems. We also have a university mentor who we can go to with any issues as well as a programme lead for any issues with the course itself.
The course is helping me to develop transferrable skills that I can take and use in my day to day role and can continue to develop in my work. It gives me knowledge that is useful for projects I work on and means I am better equipped to complete a high standard of work.
There are lots of events to get involved in on site. There are sporting events and competitions. There are charity events to get involved in or even the chance to organise your own charity events. There are lots of schools events to get involved in to help promote stem subjects.
Yes
It is a great environment to work in and everyone that works here is very supportive and helpful. There is a big focus on personal development to make sure we are improving as individuals so that we are growing our skillsets and becoming better at the work we do to be more successful as time goes on.
Be enthusiastic and willing to learn as there are always opportunities to try something new and the ability to adapt to a situation is vital to be able to make the most of the broad range of things that go on within the company. Be yourself and be confident in your own ability.
