  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I currently work as an Attraction and Engagement Partner, supporting both internal and external stakeholders in all things recruitment from writing job adverts and role profiles to sifting CVs and arranging interviews. I currently lead on the TASTE Tulip programme, working to attract alternate talent whilst influencing stakeholders to give people the FMCG experience they need to succeed.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Being quite new to the business and to FMCG, I have been given the opportunity to fine tune my existing HR skills but from a food and manufactuing perspective. I have developed a much better understanding of how manufacturing works including the different roles and how they fit in the structure across the different sites.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme was a little haphazard to begin with, the communication between the learning providers was difficult. It took quite a long time to get all of the information into one place and my profile set up. Tulip were brilliant in supporting me from an internal perspective but the support from the learning provider was not a good experience. Since the initial teething issues, I have had a good experience and I am enjoying the work that I am doing.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the programme is good, the CIPD element is split into 6 week segments, 4 weeks distance learning with a classroom workshop at the beginning of week 5 followed by an assignment to be submitted before the end of week 6. All of the elements are well structured with lots of content, I have 6 weekly sessions with my TDO to discuss the experience and also have a platform to air any problems if required.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Tulip have been a fantastic support to my apprenticeship, the different sites have also offered their support. My line manager is very accommodating of my studies, I have been given the opportunity to become a mentor to 2 of our Apprentices and recently attended a workshop to receive training to underpin this.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider is supportive. I have not really had any interaction with them outside of the 6 weekly TDO sessions. I was informed just before Christmas that my TDO was leaving DPG and that I would be allocated a temporary replacement. This has not negatively impacted the support I have received in any way,

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I wanted to complete this course as a way of underpinning and refreshing my existing knowledge and experience. To achieve this qualification will be a brilliant boost, I am already taking parts of the learning and applying them to my role. Being in classroom situations with other members (outside of the business) also gives me a good insight into HR across other industries.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As part of my role, I regularly attend conferences and network with other professionals. I recently attended a conference about Movement To Work - a charity who support Young Poeple, not in employment, education or training (NEET) to get work. This was a good way to meet other porfessionals from other industries to understand how their programmes worked and also to talk about our own programme.
